Preparation Guide

How to Prepare for Your Anesthesia Appointment

Preparing for anesthesia doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. Your provider and the Professional Intubation team will guide you through every step so you feel informed, confident, and ready.

Before Your Appointment

A few simple steps help ensure your procedure goes smoothly:

Follow eating and drinking instructions

You may be asked to avoid food and liquids for a specific period before your appointment. Your exact fasting timeline will be provided in advance.

Review medications

Bring a complete list of prescriptions, supplements, and over‑the‑counter medications. Do not stop taking medications unless directed by your physician.

Plan your ride home

Because anesthesia can cause drowsiness, a responsible adult must accompany you to and from your appointment.

Wear comfortable clothing

Loose, short‑sleeve clothing allows easier placement of monitoring equipment and IV lines.

Day of Your Procedure

When you arrive at the office:

Check‑In

Health information and consent forms are verified.

Pre‑Procedure Assessment

Vital signs are reviewed and final safety checks completed.

Anesthesia Begins

Sedation is administered by your anesthesiologist.

Continuous Monitoring

You remain in recovery until fully awake and safe to leave with your companion.

Your comfort and safety remain the priority at every stage.
